Color Editor

Last updated 10 months ago

The Color Editor [Colors] is an integrated tool within the Map Editor that allows you to change the vertex colors on the polygonal mesh of the map surface.

Opening the Color Editor

To open the Color Editor tools window, select the Colors tab on the Land Editor panel.

Color Editor interface

The right panel of the Color Editor contains the following controls:

Brush settings panel

  • Soft-Sharp - the slider to adjust the softness or hardness of the brush.

  • Slow-Fast - the slider to adjust the speed of the brush action.

Color selection panel

  • R, G, B - sliders to adjust the red, green, and blue color components.

  • Palette - а color palette for selecting colors.

Using the Color Editor

Selecting a сolor

Use the color palette or the R, G, B sliders to precisely adjust the shade. The currently selected color is displayed in the square below the palette.

Eyedropper Tool

To select a color from a specific location on the map:

  1. Hover the cursor over the color palette.

  2. Press and hold the Ctrl key to activate the eyedropper.

  3. While holding Ctrl, move the eyedropper to the desired location on the map and select the color with a left mouse click (LMB).

Brush settings

Adjusting brush parameters

Use the Soft-Sharp and Slow-Fast sliders to adjust the brush parameters.

The soft brush creates smooth color transitions, while the hard brush allows for sharp color changes.

The brush speed determines how quickly the color is applied to the surface as you move the mouse.

Adjusting brush size

To change the brush diameter, use the Plus (+) and Minus (-) keys on the Numpad.

Applying color

To apply the selected color to the map surface, move the mouse while holding down the left mouse button (LMB) over the area you want to paint. The brush will change the vertex colors of the surface according to the chosen settings.

The Color Editor allows you to easily and accurately adjust the color parameters of the map surface, creating realistic and visually appealing landscapes.

When changing vertex colors, it is important to consider lighting and surface material to achieve the most natural look.

Usage examples

The Color Editor can be used to create various visual effects, such as:

  • coloring grass and foliage to create variety in the landscape's color palette;

  • creating shadows and highlights to enhance scene realism;

  • changing the color of the bottom of water bodies to simulate different lighting conditions and depths.

The Color Editor is a helpful tool for fine-tuning the visual aspects of the map.
